If you're an uncompromising collector of antique technology, make sure to check out all my listings after you look at this one. I don't think you'll find a better, broader or more balanced assortment of technical antiques anywhere -- hundreds of no-reserve auctions each year, almost all of them featuring eye-popping "gee whiz" gadgetry in exceptional original condition. Introduced by Victor in 1903, the Victor V was the successor to the Victor D and was the companys flagship outside horn oak phonograph until it was discontinued almost 20 years later.

In 1906, the Victor V's styling changed dramatically, from Rococo to Mission, but the phonograph otherwise remained pretty much the same, with a 12 turntable, a triple spring motor, and a solid quartersawn oak cabinet. This Victor V is immaculate, with no replica parts, no replacement parts, no damaged parts, no repaired parts. Solid oak cabinet retains its original finish and its still silky smooth, with no issues.

Victor data tag is clean, complete and legible. All of the Mission trim is original and undamaged. Complete original paper license is still affixed to the underside of the baseboard; original paper oiling instructions are still affixed to the interior of the cabinet. Back-bracket enamel is clean and original, as are the decorations. All nickel plating is original, and all of it is clean.

Scattered light oxidation on the tonearm, but otherwise pristine. Clean mechanism, clean turntable, clean original crank. Victor Exhibition reproducer has a good needle bar, a good diaphragm, and it sounds great too. Original Victor Spear Tip oak horn is in spectacular condition and has a nearly perfect original Nipper decal and a clean original finish. No splintered wood, no warping, no rim splits, no restoration, no repair. Clean collar with nice original nickel-plating. Patent data is blind-stamped into the metal and still legible. Runs well and sounds great. You will not find a better Victor V anywhere. Take a look at the pictures. They tell the story better than I can. Sure, you can probably get a lower price from Joe and Janet Barn-Find, but when your "bargain" arrives broken, and without any hint of how it works or how you might be able to put it back together, you'll realize that you really do get exactly what you pay for.
