RARE 9.0/NEAR MINT:1955 PRE-OPENING "WELCOME TO DISNEYLAND"PROMOTIONAL MAGAZINE. 9.0 VERY FINE/NEAR MINT.
This gorgeous "full color" MAGAZINE supplement was DISTRIBUTED by California area newspapers a mere. Full-color newsprint PRODUCED PRINTED MEDIA was not used much back in the 1950s due to its exorbitant cost. I HAD A 35-YEAR CAREER AS AN INDEPENDENT PRINTING DESIGNER AND DISTRIBUTOR BEGINNING IN 1977 AND I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT MR. DISNEY MUST HAVE PAID FOR THIS PRINTING MASTERPIECE, BUT IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNEY. This MAGAZINE was MOST LIKELY placed AS AN INSERT in the Los Angeles Times AS MOST WERE. This was a no-holds-barred push on Disney's part to saturate the media markets with everything Disneyland HAD TO OFFER. This MAGAZINE WAS brimming with information along WITH amazing concept art from the park's development.
In ANY condition DOES NOT COME AROUND OFTEN. This 11 PAGE MAGAZINE is in. NEAR MINT(9.0) condition.
This paper was certainly stored away from light sources most likely for decades. THE BEAUTIFULLY PRINTED "LOOSE BINDING STYLE" MAGAZINE MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 11" X 13". ONE OF THE REASONS THAT NOT MANY OF THESE MAGAZINES SURVIVED INTACT WAS BECAUSE OF THE LOOSE STYLE BINDING(NO STAPLES). I HAVE PROVIDED PHOTO REFERENCES OF.
THERE IS A FULL CENTER HORIZONTAL SOFT FOLD THOUGH ALL PARTS AS IT WAS FOLDED AND THEN INSERTED WITH THE ACTUAL LOS ANGELES TIMES NEWSPAPER. I have enclosed the MAGAZINE "unfolded" into a temporary frame to help smooth out the soft center fold line.
I love framing and enjoying this special collectible when I have one come through my collection. I HAVE NOT HAD MANY COME THROUGH MY COLLECTION OVER THE DECADES, BUT THIS EXAMPLE WILL BE CAREFULLY CARED FOR UNTIL IT GOES TO THE NEW OWNER. THIS MAGAZINE PLAYED A MAJOR ROLE IN THE LAUNCHING OF THE FINEST "BIG-TIME" THEME PARK TO BEGIN ITS LONG LIFE THAT WE ALL STILL LOVE SO MUCH.
