RARE, LIMITED EDITION Danbury Mint/NBA All Stars Figurine of Julius Erving! ALL fingers are intact, unusual to find in this piece from 2002!
Julius measures 7 1/2" in height, and 8" in width! His realistic action pose has been designed and hand painted by Danbury Mint. He is airborne, and held up by a clear plexiglass rod that can be detached from the solid hardwood base. The oval metallic plate on top of the base says, "All Star Figurines - Official Issue of the Danbury Mint, " and shows some vintage wear.
The brass plate with Julius Erving's name is in excellent condition. His signature appears in gold ink underneath his figure. The hardwood base measures approximately 6 1/2" in length and 4" in width. Julius Winfield Erving II, commonly known by the nickname Dr. J, helped legitimize the American Basketball Association and was the best known player in that league when it merged into the National Basketball Association after the 1975-76 Season. He was the Philadelphia 76er's high flying forward, and became the first non-center to win the MVP award in 17 years.
He was one of the greatest dunkers in NBA history. The size of his hand made every NBA player and audience go crazy. His control and arm speed when manipulating the ball were amazing.
